Because a deep neck lift is designed to lift neck contours but doesn’t address loose, droopy skin, this procedure is best suited for younger patients under 40 with a genetically heavy neck. Patients over 40 with loose, sagging skin are the best candidates for a deep plane facelift, performed in combination with a deep neck lift. Ideal candidates for a deep neck lift should meet the following requirements:

What happens during the deep neck lift procedure?

Dr. Starkman will have a thoughtful consultation with you to understand your aesthetic goals, examine your skin and neck, review your surgical and medical history, and explain the procedure in detail.

Your procedure will be performed under general IV anesthesia. Dr. Starkman will make a single 1-inch incision hidden beneath the chin rather than traditional facelift incisions placed around the ears.

Using this incision, he will lift the layers of the neck (skin, muscle, fat, glands, connective tissues) to sculpt a refined, elegant neckline and jawline. Dr. Starkman will remove both superficial and deep fat on the neck and under the chin and lift and tighten the neck muscles.

Your deep neck lift procedure will take about an hour of surgical time.

Recovery after a deep neck lift in Scottsdale:

Expect approximately 7-14 days of downtime after your deep neck lift. During this time, you’ll rest and recuperate as your body heals. Expect bruising and swelling, which you can treat with over-the-counter medication. Sleep with your head elevated, and do not lift anything heavy or exert yourself as you’re healing. 

Final results will take about 4-6 months. At that point, you will be able to exercise rigorously. Your scar, well hidden in the lines under the chin, will fade over a period of six months to a year.
